I graduated from Exeter University with an art and education degree in 1992. I decided not to teach and found it difficult to continue with my artwork and subsequently had several office jobs – I’m pretty organised and found I was quite a good administrator! Once I had my children I worked very little and spent a lot of time at home with them, which was wonderful. Now that they are both at school I’ve rediscovered my artwork and have a fantastic time drawing and painting between the school runs.
I’ve always loved colour and pattern and I think this shows in my work. For a few years I focused on flowers and plants and really enjoy creating patterns from their structures and interpreting their shapes. People often comment that my work would make great fabric or wallpaper but I'm yet to explore these possibilities.
I started making cards and once they were selling and my confidence increased I began creating small paintings and was delighted and slightly amazed to find that these were popular too! This developed into larger paintings and eventually a change to Acrylics (that was a steep learning curve!) but it has been so enjoyable discovering landscape painting and I'm excited to see how it develops in the future.
Apart from painting I nordic walk as much as possible, love a good novel, dabble in rug making and have a wonderful family to look after.
